UNCITRAL is pleased to announce the Launch of the Online Course “Introduction to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law,” on 12 July 2021 from 13:30 to 14:30 UTC+2 as a side event to the 54th Session of the Commission.  
 
The event will introduce UNCITRAL’s new online course, and discuss the importance of training in the international law context and the benefits of online learning, including in Asia-Pacific. Ms. Caroline Nicholas (Head of Technical Assistance Section and Senior Legal Officer, UNCITRAL secretariat), Ms. Athita Komindr (Head, UNCITRAL RCAP), Ms. Alessia Messuti (Learning Innovation Programme Officer, ITCILO) and Ms. Monica Canafoglia (Legal Officer, UNCITRAL secretariat) will be participating. UNCITRAL RCAP is pleased to invite you to join us at the International Meditation Conference: Social Justice Through Mediation hosted by the Bangalore International Mediation, Arbitration and Conciliation Centre (BIMACC) to be held from 9 to 10 July 2021 (UTC +5:30). The event will kick off with an inaugural ceremony on 9 July 2021 (Day 1) from 17:00 to 17:55 (UTC +5:30). Ms. Athita Komindr (Head, UNCITRAL RCAP) will be providing an overview on the Singapore Convention on Mediation and UNCITRAL’s developments on mediation. She will be joined by legal practitioners and experts from BIMACC and the Supreme Court of India. Technical sessions on 10 July 2021 (Day 2) from 16:00 to 21:30 (UTC +5:30), will include 4 sessions exploring “COVID-19 Pandemic and Online Mediation”, the scope of the Singapore Convention on Mediation, “Standardising Mediation Training”, and the role of domestic courts and institutions in promoting mediation. The event will take place virtually and is open to the public and free of charge. 联合国国际贸易法委员会诚邀您参加与中华人民共和国商务部(MOFCOM)、中国国际贸易促进委员会(CCPIT)和中国国际经济贸易仲裁委员会(CIETAC)联合主办的“纪念《联合国国际货物销售合同公约》(CISG)通过40周年国际研讨会”。研讨会将于北京时间2021年6月25日9:00至16:15举行。 

 

本次研讨会将包括四项议题:“CISG在中国适用的经验与挑战”、“CISG——为‘一带一路’贸易争议提供解决方案”、“数字经济时代的CISG”及“货物贸易的争议解决”。联合国国际贸易法委员会秘书长Anna Joubin-Bret女士和来自“一带一路”国家的法律工作者和专家将作发言。除分享使用CISG解决国际货物销售争议的经验外,讲者还将探讨在疫情影响下解决国际贸易纠纷的应对措施。

UNCITRAL is pleased to invite you to join the CISG@40 Celebration Conference, co-organized with the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM), China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), to be held on 25 June 2021 from 9:00 to 16:15 Beijing time.  

 

The Conference will include 4 sessions: “Experiences and Challenges of Application of CISG in China”, “CISG — Right Solution for B&R Trade Disputes”, “E-CISG” and “Dispute Settlement Regarding Sales of Goods”. Ms. Anna Joubin-Bret, the Secretary of UNCITRAL, will be speaking along with legal practitioners and experts from Belt & Road countries. In addition to sharing experiences in using the CISG to settle disputes in international sale of goods, speakers will also explore measures for resolving trade disputes during the pandemic.

UNCITRAL joined with the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the International and Comparative Research Center to hold a webinar on COVID-19 Measures Implemented by States. UNCITRAL RCAP and the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) of Thailand are pleased to invite you to participate in Virtual Knowledge Sharing: UNCITRAL Texts and International Trade in the Digital Era, to be held on 2 June 2021 from 8.30 – 12.30 pm Vienna time/1.30 – 5.30 pm Bangkok time/3.30 – 7.30 pm Seoul time via Zoom.  

This virtual knowledge-sharing event will provide an overview of enabling legal frameworks for digital trade, focusing on  the UNCITRAL texts on e-commerce in particular.  These include the United Nations Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts and the UNCITRAL Model Laws on Electronic Commerce, Electronic Signatures, and Electronic Transferable Records.

The webinar will provide insights into the technical work being undertaken across UNCITRAL’s six working groups with a particular focus on dispute resolution and other dimensions of the commercial framework underpinning international trade.

Following the consideration of the proposal by China (A/CN.9/998) and a note by the Secretariat (A/CN.9/1034) on possible future work by UNCITRAL towards the development of a negotiable transport document, UNCITRAL, at its fifty-second session, requested its secretariat to conduct research on legal issues related to the use of railway or other consignment notes, and at its fifty-third session, UNCITRAL requested its secretariat to start preparatory work towards the development of a new international instrument on multimodal negotiable transport documents that could be used for contracts not involving carriage by sea. In this context, the UNCITRAL secretariat organized on 13 and 14 April an open webinar to assess the most recent legal developments related to electronic negotiable transport documents and seek views of the wide legal community on them. View the details of the webinar (e.g. programme) here.
