Singapore Convention Signing Ceremony
The Signing Ceremony for the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation (“Singapore Convention on Mediation”) will be held on 7 August 2019 in Singapore. Co-organized by UNCITRAL and the Singapore Ministry of Law, this globally significant event will open with formal addresses by Singapore Prime Minister Mr. Lee Hsien Loong and United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Legal Affairs
Mr. Stephen Mathias. The Signing Ceremony will be followed by panels and break-out sessions on topics ranging from the negotiation of the Convention to the future of international dispute resolution and the rule of law. The Signing Ceremony is part of the Singapore Convention Week, a series of events related to dispute resolution taking place from 2 - 8 August 2019 in Singapore. UNCITRAL Secretary Ms. Anna Joubin-Bret will be speaking on 6 August 2019 at the following two events: “Mediation: A New Era (MANE) Forum,” organized by the Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy, Singapore International Mediation Centre, Singapore International Mediation Institute and Singapore Mediation Centre on 6 August 2019; and “International Arbitration in Asia Pacific: Pushing the Envelope,” organized by the International Bar Association as its Inaugural IBA Asia Pacific Arbitration Conference 2019.
