The UNCITRAL Working Group III (ISDS Reform) Intersessional Meeting on Procedural Rules Reform (virtual) - 2-3 September 2021
The UNCITRAL Working Group III (ISDS Reform) Intersessional Meeting on Procedural Rules Reform (virtual) hosted by the Republic of Korea will be held on 2 to 3 September 2021 at 19:00-23:00 KST (UTC+9). This two-day intersessional meeting comprises: (i) three discussion sessions on draft provisions - namely, on early dismissal of claims (specifically addressing frivolous claims and abuse of process) and counterclaims; and (ii) one session with speakers on the cross-cutting issues of the procedural reform options, such as calculation of damages, allocation of cost, regulatory chill, and exhaustion of local remedies. The outcome of this intersessional meeting would serve as a guidance for the secretariat in its preparation of the relevant working documents and for the preparation of delegations for future deliberations on the procedural reform options. English-French/French-English simultaneous translation will be provided.
