La Commission des Nations Unies pour le droit commercial international (CNUDCI), la Chambre de commerce et d’industrie du Bénin et la Chambre de commerce et d’industrie du Togo, avec le soutien de la Chambre de commerce internationale (ICC) et de la Conférence Permanente des Chambres Consulaires Africaines et Francophones (CPCCAF), ont organisé le 11 mai 2022 un webinaire portant sur la digitalisation du commerce au Togo et au Bénin, qui faisait suite au webinaire sur les enjeux et défis de l’économie numérique en Afrique et dans la sphère francophone organisé par la CNUDCI, l’OIF et l’OHADA en mai 2021.  Programme / Note de contexte / Enregistrement du webinaire

Co-organised by UNCITRAL, the Department of Justice, Hong Kong SAR, and the Asian Academy of International Law (AAIL), the UNCITRAL Working Group III on ISDS Reform Forum aims to explore specific key issues in respect of the proposed model clauses and guidelines on investment mediation, as well as future drafting work of the UNCITRAL Working Group III. Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Department of Justice, the Asian Academy of International Law, the Moot Alumni Association and supported by the UNCITRAL Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific, the 2022 CISG conference themed “The CISG, 40 Years and Beyond: What the Past Will Bring to the Future” will take place on 27 March 2022. This conference will bring together international experts to share their perspectives on the CISG’s achievements in the past, developments presently in the works, as well as the anticipated challenges and impacts for the future. In particular, the presentations will focus on the developments of the CISG in the APAC region, including Hong Kong, as well as its potential impacts on the future work of railway consignment. Jointly organized by the UNCITRAL Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific and the Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC),  the Webinar was held on 10 March 2022 Thursday 2:00 pm-3:35 pm, Bangladesh Standard Time/9:00 am-10:35 am Austria Standard Time/5:00 pm-6:35 pm Korean Standard Time via Zoom. The Webinar themed “Alternative Dispute Resolution and International Sale of Goods: Time to Benefit from CISG?” discussed the role of ADR in resolving disputes over international transactions and how Bangladesh can benefit from CISG through panel sessions with world-renowned practitioners and academics. 07 December 2021 to 08 December 2021

Co-organized by UNCITRAL, the Ministry of Justice of Japan (MOJ), and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the 2021 Tokyo Forum on Dispute Resolution, themed “Enhancing the principles of dispute resolution in the digital economy”, was held virtually on Tuesday 7 December 2021 and Wednesday 8 December 2021. Two of the three sessions were dedicated to the stocktaking of developments in dispute resolution in the digital economy, an area which will be featured at the UNCITRAL colloquium on possible future work on dispute settlement in late March 2022.

The UNCITRAL Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RCAP) is pleased to announce the initial line-up and kick-off of its UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day 2021 (AP Day) academic series. The main theme of the UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Day 2021 is “Enabling MSMEs and Assisting Economic Recovery through Legal Harmonization”. The UNCITRAL AP Day 2021 series was launched with 3 activities in the Republic of Korea by Chung-Ang University, Inha University, and Seoul National University on 13, 14, and 26 October 2021, respectively. UNCITRAL RCAP held the 10th Asia-Pacific ADR Virtual Conference on 4 and 5 November 2021 in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Titled “Innovating the Future of Dispute Resolution Beyond 2021: The Journey Continues”, this virtual event was co-organised by UNCITRAL RCAP, the KCAB INTERNATIONAL, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Seoul International Dispute Resolution Center (Seoul IDRC). Jointly organized by UNCITRAL RCAP and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea and, supported by KCAB INTERNATIONAL and Seoul IDRC, the UNCITRAL Special Session will take place from 2 to 3 November 2021. An annual flagship event, this year’s theme is “UNCITRAL and Regional Developments on Arbitration and Mediation”. The Session is a capacity-building event that brings together invited government officials of the Asia-Pacific region and international legal experts.

Jointly organised by UNCITRAL RCAP and the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong, China, the 4th UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Judicial Summit will take place from 1 to 2 November 2021. A biennial flagship event, this year’s theme is “Sustainably Adapting to a New Normal.” The Summit brings together judges, officials, practitioners, academics, and other professionals in the region to discuss the legal challenges and opportunities created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Day 1 of the Summit, open to the public, consists of three sessions on green and sustainable financing, digital economy and dispute resolution, and insolvency and restructuring, respectively. Day 2 of the Summit is an invitation-only judicial roundtable for judges and judicial personnel to discuss supply chain trade disputes arising from pandemic disruptions in addition to digital economy and dispute resolution, and insolvency and restructuring matters.

Co-organised by UNCITRAL, the Department of Justice, Hong Kong SAR, and the Asian Academy of International Law (AAIL), the UNCITRAL Working Group III Intersessional Meeting on the “Use of Mediation in ISDS” aims to discuss ways to strengthen the use of mediation in ISDS disputes by exploring the draft notes prepared by the UNCITRAL Secretariat on model treaty provisions and guidelines for the use of mediation, as well as the experience and perspectives of international organisations and different jurisdictions through panel sessions, practical workshop and roundtable discussion. Hybrid mode of virtual and in-person participation is adopted for this meeting on 28 October 2021 18:30 - 21:30 (GMT+8), and 29 October 2021 10:00 – 12:00 and 18:30 – 21:20 (GMT+8) (evening session open to WG III delegations only).
