Réunion intersessions du Groupe de travail III de la CNUDCI : l’utilisation de la médiation dans le RDIE

Organisée conjointement par la CNUDCI, le Département de la Justice de Hong Kong et l'Académie asiatique de droit international (AAIL), la réunion intersessions du Groupe de travail III de la CNUDCI sur « L’utilisation de la médiation dans le RDIE » vise à examiner les moyens de renforcer le recours à la médiation dans le RDIE à travers l’étude les projets de notes préparés par le Secrétariat de la CNUDCI sur les dispositions des traités types et les lignes directrices pour le recours à la médiation, ainsi que l'expérience et la perspective des organisations internationales et des différentes juridictions, par le biais de présentations, d'ateliers pratiques et de tables rondes. Un mode de participation hybride (virtuelle et en personne) sera adopté pour cette réunion le 28 octobre 2021 de 18h30 à 21h30 (GMT+8), et le 29 octobre 2021 de 10h00 à 12h00 et de 18h30 à 21h20 (GMT+8) (la session du soir est ouverte aux délégations du Groupe de travail III uniquement). UNCITRAL-World Bank Group Judicial Capacity-Building Initiative on International Best Practices in the Area of Insolvency Law

The joint UNCITRAL-World Bank Group Judicial Capacity-Building Initiative on International Best Practices in the Area of Insolvency Law is intended to serve as a platform for judges, in particular from developing countries, to exchange their views and experiences with handling domestic insolvency cases and to learn in that context about the UNCITRAL Legislative Guide on Insolvency Law and the World Bank Principles for Effective Insolvency and Creditor/Debtor Regimes.

Las jornadas celebran el establecimiento de la Comisión y concientizan el trabajo que realiza la CNUDMI entre estudiantes de derecho, expertos legales, legisladores, y representantes del sector privado y público en general.

2021 UNCITRAL Latin America and Caribbean Day

The UNCITRAL Secretariat is pleased to announce the line-up for the 2021 UNCITRAL Latino America and Caribbean Day (LAC Day). During the UNCITRAL LAC Day, the Secretariat of UNCITRAL will co-host a series of academic events with institutions of higher learning in the Latin America and Caribbean region to both celebrate the establishment of UNCITRAL and to raise awareness of the work of UNCITRAL amongst law students, legal experts, policy-makers, and the public and private sectors, thereby furthering the work of UNCITRAL in promoting the progressive harmonization and modernization of international trade and commercial law throughout the region.

UNCITRAL RCAP held the 2nd Incheon Law & Business Forum themed “Navigating the Storm: Helping MSMEs Set Sail with Legal Harmonization” on 6-7 September 2021. The Forum was co-hosted with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea and Incheon Metropolitan City, and supported by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) and the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board INTERNATIONAL (KCAB INTERNATIONAL).

La réunion intersessions du Groupe de travail III (Réforme du RDIE) de la CNUDCI sur la réforme des règles de procédure (virtuelle) organisée par la République de Corée se tiendra du 2 au 3 septembre 2021 de 19h00 à 23h00 KST (UTC+9). Cette réunion intersessions de deux jours comprend : (i) trois séances de discussion sur les projets de dispositions - à savoir, le rejet anticipé des demandes (abordant spécifiquement les demandes non fondées et les abus de procédure) et les demandes reconventionnelles ; et (ii) une session avec des intervenants sur les questions transversales des options de réforme procédurale, telles que le calcul des dommages-intérêts, la répartition des coûts, le gel réglementaire et l'épuisement des recours internes. 

The UNCITRAL Working Group III (ISDS Reform) Intersessional Meeting on Procedural Rules Reform (virtual)

The UNCITRAL Working Group III (ISDS Reform) Intersessional Meeting on Procedural Rules Reform (virtual) hosted by the Republic of Korea will be held on 2 to 3 September 2021 at 19:00-23:00 KST (UTC+9). This two-day intersessional meeting comprises: (i) three discussion sessions on draft provisions - namely, on early dismissal of claims (specifically addressing frivolous claims and abuse of process) and counterclaims; and (ii) one session with speakers on the cross-cutting issues of the procedural reform options, such as calculation of damages, allocation of cost, regulatory chill, and exhaustion of local remedies.

54th Session of UNCITRAL – Side Event: Launch of the Online Course “Introduction to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law”

UNCITRAL is pleased to announce the Launch of the Online Course “Introduction to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law,” on 12 July 2021 from 13:30 to 14:30 UTC+2 as a side event to the 54th Session of the Commission.  
 
The event will introduce UNCITRAL’s new online course, and discuss the importance of training in the international law context and the benefits of online learning, including in Asia-Pacific. Ms. Caroline Nicholas (Head of Technical Assistance Section and Senior Legal Officer, UNCITRAL secretariat), Ms. Athita Komindr (Head, UNCITRAL RCAP), Ms. Alessia Messuti (Learning Innovation Programme Officer, ITCILO) and Ms. Monica Canafoglia (Legal Officer, UNCITRAL secretariat) will be participating. International Mediation Conference – Social Justice Through Meditation

UNCITRAL RCAP is pleased to invite you to join us at the International Meditation Conference: Social Justice Through Mediation hosted by the Bangalore International Mediation, Arbitration and Conciliation Centre (BIMACC) to be held from 9 to 10 July 2021 (UTC +5:30). The event will kick off with an inaugural ceremony on 9 July 2021 (Day 1) from 17:00 to 17:55 (UTC +5:30). Ms. Athita Komindr (Head, UNCITRAL RCAP) will be providing an overview on the Singapore Convention on Mediation and UNCITRAL’s developments on mediation. She will be joined by legal practitioners and experts from BIMACC and the Supreme Court of India. Technical sessions on 10 July 2021 (Day 2) from 16:00 to 21:30 (UTC +5:30), will include 4 sessions exploring “COVID-19 Pandemic and Online Mediation”, the scope of the Singapore Convention on Mediation, “Standardising Mediation Training”, and the role of domestic courts and institutions in promoting mediation. The event will take place virtually and is open to the public and free of charge.
