UNCITRAL Events and Colloquia

10 January 2023

Organized jointly by UNCITRAL, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM) and the Chongqing Commission of Commerce, supported by the Southwest University of Political Science & Law, the International Colloquium on Exploring the Negotiability of Railway Consignment Notes and Other Cargo Documents will take place on 10 January 2023. The colloquium will bring together participants from both China and from abroad to discuss a) the obstacles and innovative practices and b) legislative and judicial developments concerning the negotiability of railway consignment notes and other cargo documents.

由联合国国际贸易法委员会、中华人民共和国商务部和重庆市商务委员会联合举办,由西南政法大学提供支持,“探索铁路运单及其他货运单证可转让性国际研讨会”将于2023年1月10日举行。该研讨会将汇集来自中国和国外的与会者,探讨铁路运单和其他货物单据在可转让性方面的障碍和创新做法,以及立法和司法方面的最新发展。

Thursday, 15 December 2022 - 14:30-18:00 JST (GMT+9), and Friday, 16 December 2022 - 10:00-12:30 JST (GMT+9)

Co-organized by UNCITRAL, the Ministry of Justice of Japan (MOJ), and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the 2022 Tokyo Forum on Dispute Resolution, themed “Anchoring new approaches to the core principles of due process and fairness”, was held in person and virtually on Thursday, 15 December 2022 and Friday, 16 December 2022. The first session addressed the stocktaking of developments in dispute resolution in the digital economy, a central topic discussed at the colloquium held by the UNCITRAL Working Group II in spring 2022. The second session tackled the new 2022 ICSID Rules. The event was conducted in English with simultaneous Japanese translation provided.

05 December 2022 to 06 December 2022

On 5-6 December the UNCITRAL secretariat is co-organizing the Sharm El Sheik VIII event, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt along with the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), the Asian African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO), the Arab Union for International Arbitration (AUIA) and International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA). The theme of the event is "The Role of State Courts in International Arbitration". Anna Joubin-Bret, Secretary of UNCITRAL, will be providing the keynote address at the event.

17 November 2022 to 18 November 2022

Organized jointly by UNCITRAL, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM) and the Central University of Finance and Economics, the 2022 International Colloquium on PPP Best Practices will take place on 17-18 November. The colloquium will bring together participants from both China and from abroad to discuss recent developments in China’s public-private partnerships sector, such as low carbon projects, and the use of UNCITRAL instruments on PPPs as a model for the reform of legal frameworks for public-private partnerships.

由联合国国际贸易法委员会、中华人民共和国商务部和中央财经大学联合举办的2022年公私伙伴关系最佳实践国际研讨会将于11月17日至18日举行。本次研讨会将汇集来自中外的与会者,共同讨论中国公私伙伴关系领域的最新发展,如低碳项目,以及利用联合国国际贸易法委员会关于公私伙伴关系的文书作为公私伙伴关系法律框架改革的范本。

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, UNCITRAL RCAP invites you to its RCAP@10 conference themed "The Road Ahead: Regional trade, global standards, and the future of legal harmonization" to be held via Zoom on 11 November 2022 from 09:30 to 19:00 Korea Standard Time (UTC+9). The event is co-hosted with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea and Incheon Metropolitan City, and supported by Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) and Korean Commercial Arbitration Board INTERNATIONAL (KCAB INTERNATIONAL).

Jointly organized by UNCITRAL RCAP and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea, and supported by KCAB INTERNATIONAL and Seoul IDRC, the UNCITRAL ADR Special Session will take place on 10 November 2022. Themed “Regional Perspectives on Cross-border Dispute Resolution” this year, the Session is an annual knowledge-sharing and capacity-building flagship event that brings together representatives from across the Asia-Pacific region and international legal experts in an interactive, informal setting.

UNCITRAL RCAP is pleased to invite you to the 11th Asia-Pacific ADR Virtual Conference on 9 and 10 November 2022 (4 – 7 p.m. KST, 8 – 11 a.m. CET) hosted in Seoul, Republic of Korea, co-organised by UNCITRAL RCAP, the KCAB INTERNATIONAL, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Seoul International Dispute Resolution Center (Seoul IDRC). Titled “Solidarity for Recovery: Resilience, Restoration, Recalibration”, the event will highlight the impact of the pandemic on ADR in general and on international arbitration in particular.
