Organized jointly by UNCITRAL, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM) and the Chongqing Commission of Commerce, supported by the Southwest University of Political Science & Law, the International Colloquium on Exploring the Negotiability of Railway Consignment Notes and Other Cargo Documents will take place on 10 January 2023. The colloquium will bring together participants from both China and from abroad to discuss a) the obstacles and innovative practices and b) legislative and judicial developments concerning the negotiability of railway consignment notes and other cargo documents.

Co-organized by UNCITRAL, the Ministry of Justice of Japan (MOJ), and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the 2022 Tokyo Forum on Dispute Resolution, themed “Anchoring new approaches to the core principles of due process and fairness”, was held in person and virtually on Thursday, 15 December 2022 and Friday, 16 December 2022. The first session addressed the stocktaking of developments in dispute resolution in the digital economy, a central topic discussed at the colloquium held by the UNCITRAL Working Group II in spring 2022. The second session tackled the new 2022 ICSID Rules. The event was conducted in English with simultaneous Japanese translation provided.

Belize has acceded to the United Nations Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts (2005) (the “Electronic Communications Convention”). It will enter into force for Belize on 1 August 2023. Read the full press release here.
