2021 UNCITRAL Latin America and Caribbean Day

Thursday, 21 October 2021 - 3:00pm to Wednesday, 08 December 2021 - 11:30am

The UNCITRAL Secretariat is pleased to announce the line-up for the 2021 UNCITRAL Latino America and Caribbean Day (LAC Day). During the UNCITRAL LAC Day, the Secretariat of UNCITRAL will co-host a series of academic events with institutions of higher learning in the Latin America and Caribbean region to both celebrate the establishment of UNCITRAL and to raise awareness of the work of UNCITRAL amongst law students, legal experts, policy-makers, and the public and private sectors, thereby furthering the work of UNCITRAL in promoting the progressive harmonization and modernization of international trade and commercial law throughout the region.

The UNCITRAL Day was first launched at the UNCITRAL Regional Centre for the Asia and the Pacific (UNCITRAL RCAP) in 2014 to celebrate the historical establishment of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2205 (XXI) of 17 December 1966. Since 2014, UNCITRAL Day has become an annual flagship event for UNCITRAL RCAP and the Secretariat. In 2020, the UNCITRAL DAY expands to Latin American and Caribbean region, with the participation as organizer of an impressive 30 universities and institutions across the LAC region.

The 2021 UNCITRAL Day is themed on the new UNCITRAL texts on mediation and international arbitration. We have already registered 18 online events organized by more than 20 Universities and institutions in different countries in the region. Click here for the calendar of activities.
