UNCITRAL Working Group III’s 10th Intersessional meeting on Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) reform, jointly organized by UNCITRAL and the Government of Viet Nam, concluded successfully after three days of productive discussions on topics related to the standing mechanisms - the permanent tribunal and the permanent appellate tribunal; and to the assessment of damages and compensation.
The meeting brought together State representatives, academics and practitioners for expert panel and roundtable discussions. Opening remarks were delivered by Mrs. Dang Hoang Oanh, Member of the Executive Bureau of the CPV Committee and Deputy Minister of Justice of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam; Mr. Nguyen Anh Chuc,Member of the Executive Bureau of the CPV Committee of Ninh Binh province and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ninh Binh province; Ms. Anna Joubin-Bret, Secretary of UNCITRAL; and Mr. Shane Spelliscy, Chair of UNCITRAL Working Group III.
The meeting's outcomes will contribute to the ongoing work of UNCITRAL Working Group III as it reaches the final stages of its ISDS reform work. Further information about the meeting, including the agenda can be found here.
