The UNCITRAL Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific and the Ministry of Justice of Sri Lanka will co-host the first Colombo Arbitration Week from 1 to 5 June 2022.

UNCITRAL Legal Officer Judith Knieper will be speaking on the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration and UNCITRAL Expedited Arbitration Rules for the opening panel discussion "Proposed Arbitration Act: A Fresh Start for Sri Lanka?" taking place on 1 June 2022 from 04.00 to 07.00 PM Sri Lanka time (+5.30 GMT)/07.30 to 10.30 PM Korea Standard Time/12.30 to 03.30 PM Central European Summer Time.

The UNCITRAL Secretariat is pleased to announce the Launch event of the inaugural UNCITRAL Days in Africa that will take place in Accra, Ghana on 27 May 2022. It will serve as the kick-off of the UNCITRAL Days in Africa academic series.

During the UNCITRAL Days Africa, the Secretariat of UNCITRAL will co-host a series of academic events with institutions of higher learning in the African countries to both celebrate the establishment of UNCITRAL and to raise awareness of the work of UNCITRAL amongst law students, legal experts, policy-makers, and the public and private sectors, thereby furthering the work of UNCITRAL in promoting the progressive harmonization and modernization of international trade and commercial law throughout the region.

Le secrétariat de la CNUDCI a le plaisir d'annoncer l'évènement de lancement de la première édition des Journées de la CNUDCI en Afrique organisé le 27 mai 2022 dans les locaux du Ministère des affaires étrangères et de l’intégration régionale à Accra, au Ghana et en ligne, grâce au soutien de l’Union Européenne. Cet événement marquera le coup d'envoi de la série d’activités des Journées de la CNUDCI en Afrique en présence de grandes personnalités. 

Au cours du dernier trimestre 2022, le secrétariat de la CNUDCI coorganisera une série de manifestations avec des établissements d'enseignement supérieur dans les pays africains afin de célébrer la création de la CNUDCI et de sensibiliser les étudiants en droit, les juristes, les décideurs et les secteurs public et privé aux travaux de la CNUDCI, ce qui contribuera à promouvoir l'harmonisation et la modernisation progressives du droit commercial international dans toute la région.

La Commission des Nations Unies pour le droit commercial international (CNUDCI), la Chambre de commerce et d’industrie du Bénin et la Chambre de commerce et d’industrie du Togo, avec le soutien de la Chambre de commerce internationale (ICC) et de la Conférence Permanente des Chambres Consulaires Africaines et Francophones (CPCCAF), ont organisé le 11 mai 2022 un webinaire portant sur la digitalisation du commerce au Togo et au Bénin, qui faisait suite au webinaire sur les enjeux et défis de l’économie numérique en Afrique et dans la sphère francophone organisé par la CNUDCI, l’OIF et l’OHADA en mai 2021.  Programme / Note de contexte / Enregistrement du webinaire

Co-organised by UNCITRAL, the Department of Justice, Hong Kong SAR, and the Asian Academy of International Law (AAIL), the UNCITRAL Working Group III on ISDS Reform Forum aims to explore specific key issues in respect of the proposed model clauses and guidelines on investment mediation, as well as future drafting work of the UNCITRAL Working Group III. On 5 May 2022 China deposited a declaration of extension of the territorial application of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) to Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region of China (“the HKSAR”). The territorial application will take effect on 1 December 2022 according to article 97(3) of the CISG. (view press release)

Turkmenistan has acceded to both the  Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (the "New York Convention") and the United Nations Convention on the International Sale of Goods (the "CISG"). Turkmenistan becomes the 170th State Party to the New York Convention and the 95th State Party to the CISG. (view press release
