Search CLOUT cases

The Case Law on UNCITRAL Texts has shaped the way international trade law is understood, applied and taught across jurisdictions. Ranging throughout the years from a paper-based collection of cases in the 1980s, the CLOUT system has been through several phases including digitalization efforts as well as an electronic database of CLOUT cases ("the CLOUT database") in its most recent form. In an effort to continue to harmonize the interpretation and application of UNCITRAL texts and spread the word about CLOUT, its objectives and its use for judges, lawyers, law professionals, members of academic institutions and other interested users, the UNCITRAL secretariat is making available on its official website all published CLOUT abstracts in the six languages of the United Nations, and continues to explore partnerships with third-party platforms, and especially online platforms, academic and professional institutions, and other interested relevant entities, to disseminate further CLOUT abstracts and the system. The CLOUT collection hosts more than 2,300 CLOUT cases from more than 90 jurisdictions across the globe, interpreting and applying thirteen UNCITRAL texts.

Information on the background and structure of the CLOUT system, and details for anyone wishing to explore ways on how to join our Network and contribute, are available at the official CLOUT web page.
