UNCITRAL Model Law on Secured Transactions: Guide to Enactment (2017)
The Guide to Enactment is intended to explain briefly the thrust of each provision of the UNCITRAL Model Law on Secured Transactions and its relationship with the corresponding recommendation(s) of the UNCITRAL Legislative Guide on Secured Transactions and other UNCITRAL texts on secured transactions, including the United Nations Convention on the Assignment of Receivables in International Trade, the UNCITRAL Legislative Guide on Secured Transactions: Supplement on Security Rights in Intellectual Property, and the UNCITRAL Guide on the Implementation of a Security Rights Registry.
The Guide to Enactment is primarily directed to executive and legislative branches of Governments considering reform of their secured transactions laws. However, it may also provide useful insight to other users of the text, such as judges, arbitrators, practitioners and academics. It has been prepared by the Secretariat at the request of the Commission and is based on the deliberations and decisions of the Commission and Working Group VI.
