Sixth Inter-sessional Meeting

7 to 8 September 2023 (GMT+8)⠀

The UNCITRAL Secretariat jointly with the Singapore Ministry of Law (MinLaw) and with the support of the National University of Singapore’s Centre for International Law (CIL), are organizing the Sixth Intersessional Meeting of Working Group III to be held on 7-8 September 2023 at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore. The intersessional meeting will focus on a proposed standing multilateral mechanism and an appellate mechanism for investor-State dispute settlement (ISDS), as Working Group III makes progress on a number of ISDS reform elements to be recommended to the Commission.

The Sixth Intersessional Meeting will be an opportunity for delegates to delve deeper into these structural issues and canvas the range of considerations and perspectives, with the aim to facilitate further discussion in the Working Group as part of its mandate. The last half-day will be devoted to a roundtable discussion and will be open to UNCITRAL delegates and observers only. Remote participation will be available for UNCITRAL delegates and invited observers.

The meeting will be open to the public, with the exception of the roundtable discussion. In particular, interested local and international stakeholders in ISDS and dispute resolution are welcome to attend the different panels, to participate to the discussions and learn more about these structural reform proposals. Participation of the public will be limited to in-person only.

Simultaneous interpretation between English and French will be provided.

Location: Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Singapore
